Just Completed An Online Training For Digital Journalism in Reuters

What an amazing experience! Just Completed this online training; Introduction to Digital Journalism, conducted by one of the most reputable media organizations in the world, Reuters, a project collaboration with Meta (Facebook's mother company).

I learned a lot while reading modules and answering exercises! There are important topics about journalism and social media ethos that we cannot simply learn by just browsing the internet.

There are important pointers that digital publishers, social media managers, journalists, and media practitioners across all platforms must learn to remain relevant and establish credibility.

I've also discovered critical social media and publication practices from experts. I now understand how the largest digital publications in the world conduct their daily business and verify sources. It's a bit complex to apply those pointers but it's a must if you want to thrive in the digital publication world and establish your sense of authority and credibility in delivering the news.

I am glad I decided to take this training! It will help me develop new skills in managing my websites. And help me fully embrace my chosen field to become an independent digital publisher.

New knowledge. New learning. Continue to learn! Be that person who is always hungry for new learnings. The world is constantly evolving because technology is fast improving. Society demands new trends and new skill sets.

What we learned five years ago might no longer be relevant in today's rapidly changing environment. So we need to keep up with the call of times by acquiring new skills to stay relevant.

Learning is a continuous process!

According to Dr. Leonardo Buscaglia, an Italian-born American psychologist and adult counselor, "no matter where you are in learning, you are still beginning".
,
Yes, it is because learning does not stop at college graduation. Just because you have a college degree and got a stable job does not mean you have to stop learning, you have to stop reading books or articles.

No! You need to continue learning because the world is always moving to a new phase, constantly evolving into a new cycle. New information continues to flow because technology continuously improving so we need to keep up, otherwise, we will be left behind.

Life is a journey, and we are travelers who are always on a new quest, always on a new adventure. And if we refuse to explore and take new learnings, and discover new possibilities, we will never evolve with the world, and we can never understand the call of times.

Whatever your chosen career, path, and direction in life, learning is an indispensable tool to keep up with the demands of our environment. In every organization we joined, we are expected to be relevant, and to continue improving and acquiring new skills. Otherwise, we will be stagnant in our job.

Even relating and interacting with colleagues or handling people is a type of skill that we need to learn and embrace. Because "change" is constant, and one of the most important things to deal with change is to continue learning.

What is continuous learning?

According to Education Executive, a digital publication, "continuous learning is your self-motivated persistence in acquiring knowledge and competencies in order to expand your skillset and develop future opportunities. It forms part of your personal and professional development in an effort to avoid stagnation and reach your full potential".

If we refuse to acquire new learnings, our knowledge becomes stagnant and our capabilities will diminish its importance.

Seven Reasons why Continuous Learning is important according to Education Executive:

1. Remain relevant - We need to keep up with the new trends and be informed about what's going on in the society we live. We need to adopt a new skill set to function effectively and efficiently in our chosen field. Our knowledge 10 years ago might never be relevant in today's fast-changing society.

2. Prepare for the unexpected - Lifelong learning will help us adapt to unexpected changes – switching careers, losing a job, or finding to where we could fit in. Having new skills or new learnings will help us equip ourselves with the necessary knowledge and confidence to take on new opportunities.

3. Boost your profile - Having new learnings will also increase our "market value". It will also help us grow in our chosen field and become competent. It is always not advisable to stay where you are all the time. We need to evolve, we need to move to seek greater possibilities and new opportunities to improve our lives and make us happy.

4. Competence leads to confidence - Having new learnings and new skills gives us some sense of accomplishment which can help boost our self-confidence, and we are ready to explore the world and take on new ventures.

5. Gathering new ideas - Acquiring new skills will unveil new opportunities and help you find innovative solutions to problems.

6. Change your perspective - Continuous learning opens your mind and changes your attitude by building on what you already know. The more you learn, the better you’ll get at seeing more sides of the same situation – helping you understand more deeply.

Be that person who is always hungry for new learning!

“Learning is the only thing the mind never exhausts, never fears, and never regrets.” - Leonardo Da Vinci. In today’s competitive technological world, learning new things is an inseparable part of our daily life to keep ourselves on the world's toes.

Opportunities keep coming, and if we know what to grab we will never lose the competitive race. For this one should always keep learning to cherish knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Learning is a continuous process of acquiring new knowledge, competencies, and skills. The human mind is always curious and never hesitates to explore new challenges and prospects.

Learning new things is achieved through reading, observing, and understanding concepts and information. Learning improves communication skills, leadership skills, and qualitative-quantitative ability.
